An old bowling alley was destroyed early Wednesday morning after a fire broke out, disrupting traffic in Coldwater.
Fire crews were dispatched to the old home of the Coldwater Recreation Lanes on East Chicago Street just after 5 A.M. and began fighting the flames from a defensive position.
Traffic along U.S. 12 in front of the bowling alley had to be shut down and aerial trucks were requested from the Bronson and Quincy fire departments. As of this time, no injures have been reported and it's unclear what sparked the fire.
The bowling alley itself was in the process of being demolished after shutting down earlier this year and a new restaurant was announced to be taking its place on the property. No damage was reported to any of the nearby buildings.
