Armed Standoff in Huntington

A DeKalb County fugitive was apprehended after a five hour armed standoff in Huntington on Tuesday morning.

State Troopers from the Fort Wayne Post went to a residence in the 1500 block of Cantfield Drive in Huntington seraching for Justin Crager, a 37 year old, who was wanted on six outstanding DeKalb County felony arrest warrants, all related to dealing Methamphetamine and Possession of Methamphetamine charges. Upon arrival, at approximately 7:30am, Troopers spoke with a female and a male associates of Crager who identified that Crager was in an upstairs bedroom with a handgun. Troopers made verbal contact with Crager, and spent nearly two hours attempting to get him to peacefully surrender. Hostage Negotiators made successful negotiations and Crager peacefully surrendered. Crager was transported to the Huntington County Jail and was arrested on charges of Resisting Law Enforcement and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He will later be transferred to the DeKalb County Jail and will make an appearance on the six outstanding felony warrants that initiated the events.

Assisting the Indiana State Police on the scene was the Fort Wayne Police Department Special Operations Emergency Services Team, Huntington Police Department, Huntington County Sheriffs Department, and the Huntington EMS.
