Angola Common Council Endorses Water Quality Petition
Wednesday, September 4, 2019

The Angola Common Council learned about a water quality
initiative in the State of Indiana and encourages the community to help
improve statewide water quality criteria.

The Angola Common Council approved an ordinance that adjusted and posted new speed limits on Regency Drive at 25 miles per hour. Wastewater superintendent Craig Williams notified council of a petition to encourage the Indiana Environmental Rule board to require the Indiana Department of Environmental Management to update water quality standards to align with the 2012 EPA recreational water quality criteria as the current standards are not based on the most recent science and need to be updated to remain competitive with neighboring states. A petition will be located at the City Hall lobby.

The Board of Public Works and Safety also gathered
Tuesday evening and heard concerns about flooding and drainage
issues at 118 Chaudoin Drive and Fairhaven Development Corporation
on East Redding Road.
