LaGrange Compost Site Up For Debate
Wednesday, October 30, 2019

Rain drops won’t be the only thing falling today. A lot of leaves will come down as well, and they have to go somewhere.

That’s one of the reasons the Town of LaGrange is questioning why the Northeast Indiana Solid Waste Management District wants to move its compost site from the fairgrounds to its convenience station on 300 South.

LaGrange Town Manager Mark Eagleson says moving it that far from town will create an untenable situation for leaf pickup and disposal for the town.

Not only will the town have to haul leaves a lot farther, but residents who drop off their own leaves and limbs will have farther to go and face inconvenient hours.

The Solid Waste District says the fairgrounds site is plagued by problems such as a high water table.
