Kendallville Baseball Star Passes Away From Crash Injuries
Wednesday, October 30, 2019

Kendallville's own, Andrew Carpenter, a proud member of Ivy Tech’s baseball team in Fort Wayne unfortunately passed away from injuries he suffered in a recent car crash.

Carpenter had been hospitalized since the incident and his condition worsened in the 24 hours prior to his passing.

Carpenter and a teammate were hurt back on October 19th when they were involved in a two-vehicle collision, and on Tuesday afternoon an assistant coach confirmed to the media of Carpenter's passing. The teammate’s injuries were less serious, but the crash caused Carpenter’s brain to swell and bleed.

Since the crash, members of the Ivy Tech community, family, and friends all as one had rallied to support Carpenter. Carpenter was a sophomore at Ivy Tech and was a pitcher this past spring.

Carpenter was a graduate of Lakewood Park Christian School in DeKalb County.

A GoFundMe account was established to help Carpenter’s family with related expenses.
