Health Insurance Change Coming For LaGrange County Employees
Tuesday, November 5, 2019

The LaGrange County Commissioners decided to have county employees pick up a share of the increase in premiums for health insurance coverage.

The premiums went up just under ten percent, or four dollars a month for individuals and seven dollars a month for families. There was a debate between commissioners about whether the county should absorb the difference. Commissioner Terry Martin felt the small increase could be absorbed by the county. The vote was 2-1 to let employees pick up the increase, with Martin voting against.

Also on Monday the commissioners voted to terminate the trust agreement for an underground tank that used to be at the highway department.

The trust set aside funds in case there were a contamination problem, but the tank was removed and disposed of properly and the Indiana Department of Environmental Management signed off on ending the trust agreement.
