2019 Municipal Election Officially Over Across Tri-State Area

The 2019 Municipal Election has come and gone across the tri-state region leaving residents with a variety of winners.

In the race for Angola Mayor, Incumbent Democrat, Richard Hickman claimed victory and another term as leader of Steuben County's primary city over Republican Challenger, Joe Hysong, 834 to 641.

Debra Twitchell steaked her claim as Angola's Clerk, Jerry McDermaid at Angola City Council at Large, Gary Clum in Angola District A, David Olson in Angola District B, Kathleen Armstrong in Angola District C, and David Martin in District D.

Meanwhile in the town of Hamilton, 804 people voted yes on the school's question which won convincingly over the 344 votes for no. Democrat, Mary Vail won over Republican, Lloyd Bartels for the Hamilton Council At Large seat 299-195. Hester Stouder claims the Hamilton Clerk postion, Gregory Lingor in Hamilton District 2, and Gerry Martin in District 3.

In Orland, Republicans Lance Brodock, Robin Sears, and Democrat Connie Boocher took the three seats for Council at Large leaving Kevin Kellett the lone loser within the race. April Sanders won the Orland Clerk Treasurer position.

In DeKalb County, the hotly contested Mayoral race in Auburn Republican, Michael Ley took the victory over Democrat, Sarah Payne 1,850 to 1,463. In Garrett, Incumbent Democrat, Todd Fiandt won over Republican Challenger Larry Getts 595 to 374. For Auburn City Council District 1, Incumbent Republican, Wayne Madden won over Democrat Challenger Nora Schwartz 557 to 405.

For the Butler City Council At Large seat Republican, Bill White took the win over Incumbent Democrat, Elizabeth Chrisman 86 to 40.

In Noble County, Kendallville decided Republican, Suzanne Handshoe will lead the city as Mayor for the next four years 865 to 374 over Democrat, Timothy Schlotter.

As far south as Fort Wayne its another term for Incumbent Democrat Tom Henry as he won in dominant fashion over Republican Challenger, Tim Smith 32,571 to 20,643.

In Coldwater, Michigan it was Incumbent Mayor Tom Kramer seeing re-election as he defeated challenger Dan Corwin by an almost two-to-one margin. Kramer collected 65 percent of the vote as he defeated Corwin 910-499.

A new member was elected to Coldwater City Council as Emily Rissman defeated incumbent Cisco Ortiz 132-77. Ortiz had served on the Council since 2007 and was seeking a fourth term.

Meanwhile in Williams County, Ohio it was Jim Kozumplik winning the nod for Bryan City Council at Large with 589 votes over Denise Stollings with 350, and Michael Lirot with 341. For the Bryan City School District Board, it sees two winners with Dustin Schlachter claiming top honors with 1,392 votes and Ben Camarillo with 1,382, thus eliminating incumbent Thomas Lingvai out with 755 votes. The Bryan Board of Public Affairs saw two winners with Thomas Sprow topping out at 920, Annette Schreiner with 578 and leaving out Derek Allen with 357. For Edgerton Local Schools District Board, one winner was elected as Lyn Bowsher takes the win with 570 over Bob Siebenaler with 533, and Darwin Krill with 369.

Citizens within Williams County also voted Yes 5,388 to 1,116 on the tax levey to renew senior services and facilities, and yes as well on the general health district replacement 4,082 to 2,328.
