LaGrange County Capital Improvement Plan Set
Thursday, December 12, 2019

Two road projects and the repayment of Major Moves for a third road project are among the major expenditures in a new capital improvement plan being considered by LaGrange County officials.

The two new road projects are 250 North extending west from Shipshewana...and 600 South extending west of State Road 5. Each has a projected cost of $1 million dollars. The Motor Vehicle Highway Restrict Fund would also likely be used for the projects.

Annual payments of $270-thousand dollars are required to pay back the
Major Moves Fund for the previous reconstruction of 200 North near Pallet One. EDIT Funds are used to pay that back.

The plan also says the county is looking to remodel the County Office
Building and implement stronger security there. It estimates the cost at $200-thousand each but notes no timetable is set for either project.

Other capital allocations include $100-thousand annually to the LaGrange County Economic Development Corporation, $12,445 to Region 3-A, and $17,599 to the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership to promote economic development.

Up to $50-thousand annually to incorporated towns in the county and $60 thousand to unincorporated towns. County Council approved the plan and Commissioners will consider adoption next Monday.
