INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Department of Education has released the Federal 2018-2019 School Accountability Ratings.

Meadowview Elementary in LaGrange County, which is part of the Westview School District, received a top rating of exceeding expectations.
Seven of the 14 public schools serving students from Steuben County earned a rating of 'meets expectations' in the report, which was Prairie Heights High School; Fremont High, Middle and Elementary schools; Hamilton High School; Angola Middle School; and Ryan Park Elementary School. Hitting the meets expectations mark in LaGrange County was Westview JR-SR High, Topeka Elementary, Westview Elementary, Shipshewana Scott Elementary, and Parkside Elementary.

Local schools rated as “approaches expectations” included Prairie Heights Elementary and Middle schools; Angola High School; and Carlin Park, Hendry Park and Pleasant Lake elementary schools.

The only Steuben County school with a rating of “does not meet expectations” is Hamilton Community Elementary School. Statewide, 12% of elementary and middle schools and 8% of high schools did not meet expectations.

56 percent of high schools and 53 percent of elementary and middle schools received a rating of Meets Expectations or Exceeds Expectations.

Due to differences between federal and state accountability requirements, for the second year Indiana schools will be assessed under two accountability systems. The State Board of Education adopted a resolution withholding any vote to release state accountability grades until the General Assembly has officially taken action on a request to pass a hold harmless resolution for the 2018-19 school year.
