Angola Common Council Discusses Wastewater Utility Cost of Service Study
Tuesday, January 7, 2020

The Angola Common Council discussed a wastewater utility cost of service study among other topics on Monday evening.

The Council heard a Sewage Works Cost of Service Study presentation from Baker Tilly Municipal Advisors. The presentation included two scenarios of proposed base rate charges and their net effects. Council members discussed their concern for a dramatic increase in rate for average residential users while large users such as Trine University and Cameron Hospital would see rate decreases. Council members will review the study further but no timetable for a decision was set. Council members passed a request from the Mayor to waive the requirement to appoint a fire chief from active personnel of the department with two members voting against the request. There was also discussion on the current parking situation on Williams Street between Fireman's Park and the Northern Lakes Nursing & Rehabilitation Center based on a report from the traffic commission.

Council will gather again next at 7 P.M. on January 20th, 2020 in the Council Chambers at City Hall in downtown Angola.
