Pressure Coming On Contractors In DeKalb County Corrections Facility
Tuesday, January 21, 2020

Officials in DeKalb County are wanting to see key features completed of the county's new Community Corrections facility by the end of the week.

DeKalb County Commissioners met with contractors yesterday, after hearing concerns from the executive director for Community Corrections, Kellie Knauer who wants to be able to admit the first round of work release inmates sometime early next month at the facility located on the western edge of Auburn.

During a meeting about a month ago, contractors and architects on the project assured county officials that the building would be finished enough and ready for use back on January 10th.

Issues that have come up since are in the areas of obtaining hot water for showers and dishwashers, and other issues in regards to relegating temperatures throughout the facility.

Officials stated that those issues have to be completed by weeks end in order to hit the target occupy date of inmates by February 3rd or 4th.
