Work Underway On I-69 In Branch County
Monday, March 23, 2020

Work is underway on a stretch of highway that runs through Branch County.

The Michigan Department of Transportation says crews started working
Wednesday on the 12 mile section of I-69 between Girard Road and Otis Road. The work will include three bridges, at Fenn Road, State Road and Newton Road. Nick Schirripa with the MDOT Office of Communications, says the $7.7 million investment includes pavement and joint repairs, resurfacing, crack sealing and drainage improvements. Repairs to the Fenn Road, State Road and Newton Road bridges will include concrete deck repairs and repaving, full beam painting and approach work.

The project will improve ride quality and provide a longer lasting pavement on I-69. It will also extend the life of the three bridges.
Schirripa says one lane of I-69 will remain open in each direction throughout the construction. Each of the three bridges will be closed and detoured.

Fenn Road and State Road will both be closed over I-69 from April 7 until July 17th. Newton Road will be closed over I-69 from August 4 until October 30th. Detour signs will be posted.

Work is expected to be finished October 30th.
