Initial reports from the Williams County Health Department early Saturday of the first positive test result for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Williams County were incorrect.
Williams County Health Commissioner Jim Watkins said in a news release retracting initial reports that the person originally reported from Williams County was instead a permanent resident of Defiance County. He said the confusion came because at one time the person had been a Williams County resident".
Watkins emphasized in the revised media release “there are still NO confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Williams County” at this time.
