Coronavirus Detected In Calhoun County

A second case of COVID-19 has been detected in Calhoun County.

In a media release, the Calhoun County Public Health Department was informed by the Michigan Department Of Health And Human Services on Sunday of a second case of COVID-19. The resident is currently at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. Health Department Officials says they are in communication with Bronson staff. They will also be contacting and informing those who have been in close contact with the patient and assessing and monitoring symptoms as appropriate.

The first case of coronavirus in Calhoun County was announced by the MDHHS
at 11:30 Saturday morning. The first person was an adult with travel history only inside Southwest Michigan The person is self-isolated inside their home and were last reported in stable condition.

To date, there are now 1,035 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Michigan, with
249 new cases reported on Sunday. There have also been eight deaths from the disease. One of the deaths was in Kent County, four in the City of Detroit. Other deaths have been reported in Oakland, Macomb and Wayne Counties.

Health officials continue to urge everyone to take the necessary precautions including washing hands frequently for at least twenty seconds, covering coughs and sneezes, staying home when sick, avoiding touching your face, avoiding those who are sick and disinfecting commonly touched surfaces. It’s also important to practice social distancing.
