Two more cases of COVID-19 have been detected in Hillsdale County.

The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency was notified of two more positive test results. One is a man, who is currently hospitalized. The other is a woman who is isolating at home. CHA Health Officer Rebecca Burns says they are contacting people who have had close contact with the patient, and will assess for symptoms and quarantine and monitor appropriately.

Statewide, 507 new cases of COVID-19 have been detected since Tuesday. That brings the total number of cases in Michigan to 2,295 with 43 deaths. In addition to the three cases in Hillsdale County, there are six cases in Calhoun County and five in Kalamazoo County.

Burns reminds everyone to wash your hands frequently with soap and water; disinfect commonly touched surfaces and practice social distancing to help slow down the spread of COVID-19.

If you have symptoms of COVID-19, Burns says you should self isolate for 14 days to avoid potentially exposing others. If you have been in contact with someone who has COVID-19, Burns says you should self quarantine for 14 days and monitor yourself for fever, cough and shortness of breath.

COVID-19 symptoms can appear in as few as two days or as long as 14 days after exposure to the virus.
