Indiana Parks Remain Open In Limited Capacity
Monday, March 30, 2020

As officials across Indiana continue to encourage social distancing while most of the Hoosier state shut down due to COVID-19, Indiana State Parks are remaining open for business on a limited basis.

Officials with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources are reporting parks are seeing an uptick in traffic, particularly on sunny days, as people seek the outdoors as a way to avoid being closed up at home.

While the outdoors is open to the public, not all amenities in the state’s parks are like nature centers that were shut down following Governor Eric Holcomb’s March 23rd stay-at-home order.

Areas also closed are playgrounds, cabins, shelters and picnic areas, pools, group camps, park offices and the DNR’s customer service center in Indianapolis. The same holds true for state park inns, like Potawatomi Inn at Pokagon State Park, as well as inn restaurants.
