ANGOLA, IN - Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch and the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs are presenting a check to the Downtown Angola Coalition, which is the Main Street organization for the City of Angola.

The Coalition is being recognized for the $40,000 grant they received through the Preserving Women's Legacy Grant Program for a life-size sculpture of abolitionist Sojourner Truth, along with book studies and lesson plans for local students.

The grants are a project of the Indiana Women’s Suffrage Centennial Commission, presented by a partnership between the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs and Indiana Humanities.

In addition to project funding, the partnership is providing capacity building and marketing training to ensure the project’s sustainability and bring awareness of the importance of women's impact on Hoosier history.

The check will be presented to Downtown Angola Coalition on Wednesday, September 9, starting at Noon at the Steuben County Courthouse.
