ANGOLA, IN - Steuben County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the area of State Road 127 near State Road 727 in rural Jamestown Township for a report of a 2 vehicle personal injury crash.

Upon initial crash investigation, it was determined that a vehicle driven by 32 year old Kaitlyn A. Walker of Fremont, was traveling northbound 127 rounding a curve in the roadway. The second vehicle, Chevy Silverado, driven by 22 year old Corbin M. Martin of Waterloo, was traveling southbound on 127 approaching the same curve in the roadway.

The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department says as the two vehicles were approaching each other, Walker’s vehicle traveled left of the center line into the path of Martin’s vehicle. Martin attempted to avoid a collision, but was unsuccessful and both vehicles collided head-on.

Walker was transported to Cameron Hospital by Steuben County EMS in serious condition with lower leg injuries and then later transferred to a Fort Wayne area hospital for further treatment.

During the initial investigation, authorities say a small amount of suspected Marijuana was allegedly located inside the vehicle driven by Walker.

The incident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office, and criminal charges may be sought.

The accident happened Monday just after 4:15 p.m.

Assisting the Sheriff’s Office at the scene were the Indiana State Police, Angola Fire Department, and Steuben County EMS.

(Any criminal charge is merely an accusation. The Defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.)
