Jobs at Risk in Auburn
By: Sheila McCrea - Wednesday, November 11, 2020

AUBURN, IN - More than 100 factory jobs in Auburn could be at risk.

A Worker Adjustment and Re-Training Notification, or WARN letter, dated November 5th, stated Eaton Corporation is intending to permanently close its facility on Brandon Street in Auburn. The closure would result in the layoff of 108 employees.

The letter says the layoffs would start in February, with the closure anticipated to be complete in May 2021. Plans stated it would be a permanent closure.

Officials with the Eaton Corporation suggest news of the shutdown might be premature, sayinga final decision will not be made until after Eaton's Vehicle Group management and the union have met and discussed the plan.

The DeKalb County Economic Development Partnership is working with Northeast Indiana Works to try and connect any displaced workers with other local manufacturers who may be hiring.
