Rhodes Shares Sturgis Election Numbers
By: Mike Stiles - Thursday, November 12, 2020

STURGIS – Everything ran smoothly for the City of Sturgis during the November 3 election.

During the City Commission organizational meeting on Monday, City Clerk Ken Rhodes says this was the highest voter turnout since he has been the City Clerk. There were 3757 ballots cast this years.

That's better than the 3107 ballots cast in 2016 and the 3122 cast in 2012.

Rhodes says Biden won on the absentee ballots with 50 percent of the votes while President Trump got 46 percent. But Trump dominated the in person voting.

Rhodes says with the large number of absentee ballots submitted not only locally but across the nation, this will change the way future elections will be run. In Sturgis, there were 1800 absentee ballots cast.
