St. Joseph County Suspends Jury Trials For Rest Of 2020
By: Mike Stiles - Friday, November 13, 2020

CENTREVILLE – Jury trials in St. Joseph County have been postponed for the remainder of 2020.

Kathy Griffin, St. Joseph County Circuit Court Administrator, says pursuit to a Local Administrative Order, St. Joseph County Courts are only able to conduct jury trials when the number of COVID-19 cases are below a threshold set by the Michigan Supreme Court.

At this time, the case count per million remains too high, as well as the positivity rate, for jury trials to be held safely.

Griffin says jury summons for the remainder of the year have already been sent out. The Courts are making the decision to postpone jury trials for the rest of the calendar year.
