Angola Council Holds Public Hearings on Water Rates and Charges
By: Colin Meadowcroft - Tuesday, November 17, 2020

The Angola Common Council held several public hearings on Monday evening.

The Angola Council approved a public hearing regarding sewage work rates and charges. For the public hearing for waterworks rates and charges, it was proposed to amend the ordinance to make the changes phase in over a three year period rather than an immediate change. That amendment passed but the rates will be recalculated for the three year phase in. A public hearing regarding the proposed waterworks rates and charges for fire protection, hydrant rental, and private sprinkler was denied largely due to the fire protection tie in on a utility bill. That public hearing will be reworked and will come back to the council at a future date.

Mayor Hickman announced that due to surging coronavirus cases in Steuben County and throughout Indiana as well as high positivity rates that he signed an executive order for the Common Council, all boards, commissions and committees to meet virtually beginning on December 1st until further notice.
