Appeals on Wheels Visits Hoosier Boys State at Trine University
By: Colin Meadowcroft - Tuesday, June 14, 2022

Indiana’s second highest Court will conduct a live, in person oral argument this week at Trine University.

The event for Hoosier Boys State will take place on Thursday, June 16 at 1:00 p.m. in Fabiani Theatre located in the University Center. A panel consisting of Chief Judge Cale J. Bradford, Judge Paul D. Mathias, and Judge Elizabeth F. Tavitas will hear arguments in Skeens v. State. The oral argument will conclude with a question-and-answer session with the audience about the judiciary; however, the judges are unable to speak about the specific case.

The Court of Appeals hears oral arguments across Indiana to enable Hoosiers to observe the real-world issues that face the Court and to learn more about the Court’s indispensable role in Indiana government. Audiences also get to observe skilled legal arguments and advocacy by some of Indiana’s best lawyers, against a backdrop of case-specific facts and statutory and constitutional law.

The event is open to the public and will last about one hour.
