Four area high school students will be heading south this weekend for the 13th Annual High School Fishing World Finals.

Lincoln Booth, Hunter Ellinger, and brothers Cody and Logan Melson will be traveling to Florence, Alabama for the 3-day tournament. Tournament action gets underway starting Wednesday June 22nd.

All teams will compete Wednesday and Thursday of next week with Thursday being “cut” day. Friday, June 24th, is judgment day.

Cody Melson is a 2022 graduate of Prairie Heights, Lincoln Booth, along with the younger Melson, Logan, are both Prairie Heights students, while Hunter Ellinger attends Eastside High School.

The competition will be filmed and aired on the Pursuit Channel.

Although the four boys are actively involved in physical sports at their respective schools, this sport is something the four boys fund privately by working summer jobs along with the support of their family.
