A single vehicle crash has claimed the life of a Noble County man.
At approximately 6:50 p.m. on Thursday Indiana State Troopers, Noble County Deputies, Albion Police and Kendallville Police responded to calls of a crash of a single vehicle that left the roadway and crashed into a tree on County Road 415 North, just east of County Road 1000 East.
A preliminary investigation by Master Trooper Marc Leatherman indicates a black 2015 Jeep was traveling westbound on CR 415 North and for an unknown reason left the roadway, striking a tree on the north side of the road. The male driver who was the only occupant of the Jeep was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Noble County Coroner's Office.
Seatbelts were not in use at the time of the crash. Toxicology results are pending. Weather is not believed to have been a factor at the time of the crash.
County Road 415 North remained closed until approximately 10:30 p.m. for reconstruction of the crash and for the vehicle to be removed.
The Indiana State Police was assisted by the Noble County Sheriff's Department, Albion Police Department, Kendallville Police Department, Avilla Police Department, and the Avilla Fire Department.
This is an ongoing investigation.
