Coldwater Man Arraigned On Armed Robbery Charge
Thursday, May 16, 2019

A Coldwater man has been arraigned following his arrest for allegedly robbing a woman. Branch County District Court personnel say 54 year old James Hanna was arraigned Tuesday on a charge of armed robbery. He is being held without bond.

Coldwater Director Of Public Safety Mark Bartell says officers were sent to South Jefferson Street around 4:30 PM Monday. A woman told police a white man came up to her, showed a firearm and took money from her.

The suspect left the area in a maroon colored Dodge Stratus. A few minutes later, police found a vehicle matching that description near a house on Peckham Street. Officers tried to make contact at the residence, and observed a person matching the description of the suspect inside the house. The individual would not answer the door or speak to the officers at the scene.

At approximately 5:45 PM, officers were able to peacefully negotiate with all of the individuals inside the house to come out. Three men exited the residence and were detained.
Police executed a search warrant at the Peckham Street house where they located items believed to be involved with the robbery. Police interviewed the three men and then arrested Hanna.
