A special dedication took place on Saturday of four new sculptures which are now part of Angola's Downtown. The endeavour is part of what is being called “Sculptures Angola”. The sculptures will be on display for just a year.

The “Sculptures Angola” project is an initiative through the efforts of the Angola Hometown Collaboration Initiative (HCI), the work of the newly formed Mayor's Arts Council and the City of Angola's Downtown Services under the Office of the Mayor.

Angola officials involved say they have high hopes of continuing the tradition of public art in Angola, with a vision for more things to come.

The pieces on display prioritize a welded sculptures due to the importance of welding in the local economy. The four sculptures on Angola's Public Square, are not just on display, but they are also for sale.

The “Sculptures Angola” initiative is intended to be a catalyst for all arts and artists to broaden, support, and encourage a thriving and inclusive arts culture in Angola and its surrounding area.
