Valedictorian Bill Introduced By Ohio Lawmakers

An Ohio lawmaker has introduced legislation, requiring school districts in within the Buckeye State to name a valedictorian. The House bill introduced by Republican state Representative Niraj Antani, of Miamisburg, comes after Mason High School in southwestern Ohio decided that it will stop awarding those academic honors.

Many schools traditionally have bestowed the valedictorian title on the graduating student with the highest cumulative grade-point average.
