(ANGOLA) - Steuben County Republicans now have two vacancies to fill on the County Council. County Republican Party Chair Rick Michael says Sara Tubergen submitted her resignation from the Council on Tuesday to County Clerk Shelly Herbert. Michael says Tubergen's resignation is effective on August 18th.
Tubergen will still take part in the Council's meeting on August 12th. Michael says Tubergen is studying to become an occupational therapist. Since she is a full time student and her classes are out of town, Michael says Tubergen did not have the time to continue as a Council member.
Caucuses of Steuben County precinct committee chairs will have to be held to find replacements for Tubergen and the late John Ingledue who passed away following a short illness last week. The persons selected will serve out the remainder of their terms which end on December 31st. Neither Tubergen or Ingledue dediced to seek a third term on the Council.
