LAGRANGE – The suspect in Thursday evening's armed robbery of the Dollar General Store in LaGrange apparently tried to take her own life before being apprehended.
Investigators say 18-year-old Sarah Jones of LaGrange had taken some pills and stabbed herself while inside her apartment on South Street following the robbery. When police first arrived she refused to answer the door but eventually did and police took her into custody.
Jones was taken to Parkview LaGrange Hospital for treatment and held there overnight. She was then held on a 72 hour mental health commitment.
Investigators obtained a search warrant for the apartment and found the cash stolen from Dollar General.
LaGrange Police are seeking an arrest warrant charging Jones with armed robbery.
