Friday Jul 25, 2014 8:10pm
Orland, IN

By: Jim Measel

(ORLAND) - It is Orland's turn to shine this weekend as the annual Vermont Settlement Days are held at the Orland Town Park. The theme this year is "Honoring Our Heritage". Saturday's activities include the parade at 11:00am.
Gene Kelley is the Grand Marshall for this years parade.

A chicken BBQ follows the parade at 12:00noon followed by music throughout the afternoon.

Sunday features the always popular Mud Volleyball tournament but there are other things to do if you don't feel like getting dirty. A Chinese auction is scheduled to take place Sunday at 1:00pm. The Primitive Village which gives you the feel of what life was like in 1834 when Orland was founded opens at 9:00am both days. There will also be a Civil War camp.

The event is free. Organizers ask that you keep your pets at home. For more information, go to the festival's Facebook page.
