Wal Mart, United Way Partner To Help Children
Tuesday Aug 12, 2014 5:35pm

(STURGIS) – Two very well known organizations are working together in an effort to help children.

The Sturgis Wal Mart is partnering with the St. Joseph County United Way to put on the “Fill The Bus” event, this Friday from 9 AM to 3 PM in the Wal Mart parking lot.

Bins have been placed at the front entrances of the Sturgis Wal Mart. People are encouraged to purchase school supplies and then place them in the bins during the week. Then on Friday, Wal Mart employees and United Way staff and volunteers will load those supplies into a St. Joseph County Transportation Authority bus.

United Way Executive Director Kelly Hostetler says the purchased items will then be donated to the Sturgis Backpack Program.

Sturgis Wal Mart Store Manager Kevin Salisbury says being a part of the community they serve is something they are proud to do. And being part of a child's education is something Salisbury says they must do.

Both Salisbury and Hostelter are encouraging the public to stop out at the Sturgis Wal Mart on Friday to drop off supplies and help fill the bus.
