Northeast Indiana’s new congressman is calling for the total repeal of the Affordable Care Act.
Republican Jim Banks issued a statement Thursday calling the act “the definition of government overreach” and said he supports a full repeal.
Banks said “the people spoke when they elected a Republican Congress and White House, and they don’t want a modified version or a partial repeal.”
He said Congress must strike while the iron is hot.
We reached out to Banks through his media contact to ask if he favors a return to the status quo that existed prior to the A-C-A and whether he thought insurance companies should be required to cover pre-existing conditions.
Press Secretary Anna Swick said Banks co-sponsored the American Health Care Reform Act, which would repeal Obamacare, allow Americans to purchase insurance across state lines, safeguard individuals with pre-existing conditions, and protect the unborn by ensuring no federal funds go to abortions.
