Williams Street Apatments • Angola, IN

By: Sheila McCrea

A man allegedly ran from Angola Police after police were called to the Williams Street Apartments to check on a vehicle in the parking lot that was reported as suspicious. The incident began just after 10 a.m. Sunday morning.

Upon arrival at the apartments, an officer noticed another vehicle in the parking lot that was running that was occupied by two people. Through the investigation, officers asked for identification from both subjects. A female exited the vehicle and the male drove over the parking curb and onto Williams Street in an attempt to flee from Officers.

Officers pursued the vehicle north through Angola continuing to Fremont. A Fremont Officer joined Angola Officers as the pursuit continued into Michigan. Other officers from agencies in both Indiana and Michigan joined the pursuit as it continued.

The pursuit lasted nearly 42 minutes through Branch and Hillsdale County before the suspect left the road and wrecked the car into a field in Branch County on Southern Road.

The driver, 43 year old Scott Calloway, was arrested and taken into custody by authorities in Branch County.

44 year old Diana Rodriguez, the female that exited the vehicle at the Angola apartment location was arrested for fugitive warrants out of Elkhart County.

Assisting Angola City Police in the pursuit were Fremont Police Department, Michigan Conservation Officers, Hillsdale Sheriff’s Department, and Branch County Sheriff’s Department.
