The Angola Plan Commission spent much of its Monday evening meeting discussing a partnership with Northeast Indiana and HPG to make the process of permitting easier. The permitting process is done a number of different ways in different parts of the state. Mayor Hickman and city employees involved in the permitting process are working on making a more universal way to issue permits to the vast array of contracting companies providing services in different parts of the state while also protecting community members.
In order to receive a permit a company must go through the permitting rules with each city and present a set of plans that is up to code to be reviewed by the board. In neighboring city's, code is often different which can make the process difficult for both the company and cities in business with the company.
The Plan Commission also elected officers for the new year. Eugene Burd was elected President, Mike McClelland Vice President, and Vivian Lakes was elected Secretary.
