Commission Approves COA Budget For 2015

(CENTREVILLE) – The St. Joseph County Commission On Aging has their budget for fiscal year 2015.

During Tuesday’s meeting, COA Director Lynn Coursey presented the budget to the St. Joseph County Commission. Coursey says the 2015 budget is less than the 2014 budget. ...... {LISTEN}.

In the budget overview, the projected budget for the year ending September 20, 2015 is $2.9 million. Coursey says there in an increase in her 593 budget, which is attributable to an increase in COA and community rental income by $4212 and a decrease in expenditures of $2838.

Coursey also says in the COA's current third quarter, revenues are tracking just slightly over one percent above budget, while expenditures were reported at approximately 11 percent under budget. While Coursey says she can't state the COA will finish its year that much under budget, she says the trend appears to show the organization will finish under budget, and will use less fund balance than anticipated for the current budget year.

It is not expected that COA will drastically reduce the services available but Coursey says they many change the type of service offered to contain costs, should the program income not increase sufficiently to meet or exceed budget expectations. The Commission unanimously approved the budget for the COA.
