LAGRANGE – LaGrange County Commissioners are hopeful that their tobacco cessation grant program is back on track.
Grant coordinator Greg Johnson left for California at the end of June without resigning his position. That left the commissioners responsible for a grant that they knew little about.
Monday they approved contracts for two persons to perform the duties required by the grant after receiving word from state officials. The state agreed to split the four county region in two, with LaGrange and Steuben Counties on one hand and Noble and DeKalb on the other.
Deb Ponticorvo will handle the duties for LaGrange-Steuben. Lisa Jones will work in Noble-DeKalb.
Their contracts expire at the end of June next year.
