Angola High School is playing host the what they are calling the "5th Quarter Unified" basketball game on Monday night. Angola High School Counselor and Assistant Athletic Director Dave Police says it's something they have expanded on over the years.
Members of the RISE Special Olympics basketball team will be combined with AHS students for the game. Police says it will be a full four quarter basketball game with a running clock.
According to Mr. Police, the game fulfills one of four pillars required by the IHSAA to be named a Unified Champion School through its "Champions Together" initiative.
AHS has been named a banner school the last two years. The other pillars include demonstrating servant leadership, hosting an all-school assembly, and raising $1500 for Special Olympics".
The game starts at 6:30 p.m. Monday night at the Angola High School Gymnasium.
A $2.00/person donation is suggested, but not required for admission. Donations in any amount will benefit Special Olympics.
