Steuben County High School Athletes Hitting Goals & Beyond
Friday Feb 17, 2017 5:17pm
Angola - Fremont - Hamilton - Prairie Heights

By: Sheila McCrea

It's been a seemingly good year for many athletic teams in the tri-state, specifically here in Steuben County. Just Thursday night, multiple boys qualified for Sectionals in swimming, including Angola's Nathan Bourne and Fremont's Jackson Cardoso.

Members of the Angola Bowling Team head to state this weekend. The 2 seniors members of the Angola Bowling Team have now won every championship possible in their carriers including State in 2015. Along with their teammates, they hope to claim another state title this weekend in Fort Wayne.

Named to the the All-NECC girls basketball team this week from Steuben County was Ali Cranston and Ally Lorntz of Angola. Making the team from Hamilton was Emma Gaff, and from Prairie Heights was Shelby Fish. Honorable mentions went out to Angola's Sydney Boyd and Anna Fuller, Fremont's Lexus Lyon and Lexi German from Prairie Heights.

Earlier today, Prairie Heights Teachers Laura Allen and Shanan Staton organized a big send off for the two Panther Wrestlers as the headed to Indianapolis for the Indiana High School Athletic Association State Competition. Students lined the sidewalk in front of the school as Junior Jed Levitz and Senior Joey Blakey, along with their coaches and team members drove off in a bus hoping to clench state wins.

Whether you are a Hornet, Eagle, Marine, or Panther...live it up, fight hard, and be Stueben County proud.
