A Republican Candidate has thrown his name in the hat for the 2018 Steuben County Sheriff's Election. Rodney “RJ” Robinson made a social media post on Friday that he filed the principal committee documentation to be a 2018 Republican candidate for Steuben County Sheriff. Robinson stated in the post that he has been “completely overwhelmed and grateful for the encouragement and support” he has received in taking the step to file.
Robinson has been an officer with the Steuben County Sheriff's Department for a number of years. In 2014 he was promoted to Chief Deputy by Sheriff Tim Troyer.
Robinson and his wife Sarah have lived in Steuben County where they have raised three children.
