It is once again time to start thinking about the annual WLKI Pie Auction that benefits Cops for Kids.

The Cops for Kids program partners with school officials at Angola, Fremont, Hamilton, & Prairie Heights to assist in identifying kids who have a need for warm winter clothing. The funds raised from the Annual Pie Auction assist Cops for Kids in taking the selected kids shopping for winter clothing, that includes things like coats and boots. Each kid does get to pick one "toy" item during the shopping trip.

Rich McCarty with the Steuben County Sheriff's Department says that 150 kids benefited from the funds raised on Pie Auction day. Roughly $150 was spent on each child, not to mention other additions that included a full set of groceries for a Christmas dinner for each family, among other things.

In order to continue the tradition of helping area youth, community organizations, businesses, schools, clubs, etc. are asked to submit pies that will be auctioned all day on Wednesday, November 22, 2017.

All entry forms for pies must be entered online by this Friday, November 17 at 6 p.m. The entry form is available on WLKI.com. Each pie entry must be delivered to WLKI at 330 Intertech Parkway by 6 p.m. on Tuesday November 21st.

In addition, each pie must have a name, description and allergy warning. It is also important to provide a disposable pie dish, or a dish that isn't expected to be returned.

For more information, or to have specific questions asked, please call 260.665.9554 during regular business hours.

Community members are then asked to call in to WLKI on Wednesday during the auction to bid on pies. All money raised not only benefits Cops for Kids, but all of the money is kept in Stueben County.

Area law enforcement and emergency professionals meet with the team at WLKI to work on logistics for the annual pie auction. Pictures is Dawn Petre, Ken Whitmire, Ray Harvey, Rich McCarty, Steve Swick, Sheila McCrea, & Paul Thiel.
