A vehicle crash on Saturday afternoon in the town of Churubusco resulted in the arrest of a 19 year old man from Kimmell on OWI and marijuana related charges.
According to the Indiana State Police, one of their officers was parked in the parking lot of Churubusco High School completing some paperwork. At around 11:30 a.m. Saturday, the ISP Trooper saw a vehicle traveling westbound on Washington Street towards Eagle Drive at a high rate of speed.
The vehicle then crashed into a three foot high curb in front of Churubusco Elementary School.
Reports indicated that the driver, 19 year old Logan R. Skinner of Kimmell and his passenger, 19 year old Hannah N. Schaefer of Churubusco, were involved in a verbal argument prior to the crash.
During the investigation items commonly associated with the use of marijuana and marijuana wax were found in Skinner's vehicle. He was also wanted out of Noble County for a probation violation related to a previous possession of marijuana charge.
Skinner was taken into custody without incident and incarcerated in the Whitley County Jail on preliminary charges of Operating While Intoxicated-Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana, & Possession of Paraphernalia.
The vehicle crash is being investigated by the Churubusco Police Department.
