It’s been a tough winter on roads, and LaGrange County Highway Superintendent Randy VanWagner says the cost is adding up.
VanWagner told County Council members this Monday morning that they normally do about 60 lane miles of buggy wheel rut patching a year but they already have double that amount on the list for this summer.
The added expense is being taken from the budget for normal patching and chip and seal, and he expects to come back to council in the summer to request an additional appropriation.
County Engineer Sarah Farlow gave the council an update on the justice building project, which led into a discussion of how to pay back the Major Moves fund for the loan that is building the Justice Building. The ten council members could not recall where the money would come from or how much would be paid back per year.
