A Fort Wayne woman who had been operating a motorboat that spun out of control on Lake Gage in Steuben County last summer has pled guilty.
Steuben County Prosecutor Jeremy Musser said that Dominique Effinger, age 21, pled to criminal recklessness, a Level 6 felony, last week. Her plea was in relation to the July 2017 incident on Lake Gage that threw ten people into the water.
According to investigative reports on that incident, authorities said Effinger was drunk when she turned too hard and lost control of the motorboat she was operating. Two people were air lifted from the scene. Several others suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Musser said that Effinger will be sentenced August 3rd at 1:30 p.m.
Effinger could face up to 6 months to 2 1/2 years in jail.
