School Safety Grants Coming to Local Districts

Almost $223-thousand dollars in School Safety grant money is coming to area schools.
It’s part of $14 million dollars awarded to 338 qualifying schools in the state.
Fremont Schools got $35,000 and the MSD of Steuben County got $28,500.
Prairie Heights, Lakeland, East Noble, Central Noble, and West Noble are getting the maximum amount of $50-thousand dollars.
Westview is getting $9,345.
Each school districts must provide a 50% local match.
The funds can be used to hire a school resource officer, conduct a threat assessment, and purchase equipment to limit access to the school or expedite the notification of first responders.
