A traffic stop for made by the Indiana State Police late Wednesday night led to the arrest of a 24 year old South Bend man following the discovery of suspected cocaine and marijuana.

ISP reports indicate that a Trooper saw a 2006 BMW with equipment violations taking the Howe exit from the Toll Road. The initial traffic stop was initiated after the BMW went through the Toll Plaza, just west of State Road 9, near Howe.

The driver was been indentified as Aries Jevon Alexander. The ISP Trooper smelled an odor which was believed to be raw marijuana coming from the passenger compartment of Alexander's vehicle. Further investigation and a search of the vehicle turned up more than 30 grams of suspected marijuana and an estimated five grams of suspected cocaine.

Nearly $200.00 in U.S. currency, items of drug paraphernalia and a loaded .40 caliber handgun were also found.

Alexander was taken into custody without incident and incarcerated in the LaGrange County Jail on the following preliminary charges of Dealing Cocaine (Level 2 Felony), Dealing Marijuana (Class A Misdemeanor), Possession of Cocaine (Level 4 Felony), and Possession of Marijuana (Class B Misdemeanor).
The LaGrange County Sheriff Department assisted the Indiana State Police at the scene.
