Van Wert, OH - For Northwest Ohio High School Football fans it was a State finals match for the history books as the Van Wert Cougars rally to capture the school’s first ever state football championship.

The Van Wert Cougars won 31-28 over Mentor Lake Catholic.

The Cougars never had the lead the entire game and ended up winning the state football championship in Ohio by kicking a field goal with roughly 7 seconds left.

It was the first time they kicked a field goal this year.

Van Wert Cougars are the 2020 Division IV State Champions!
