Trine Men's Golf Wins Calvin Spring Invite

GRAND RAPIDS, MI - The Trine University men's golf team posted the winning team score at the Calvin University Spring Invitational this afternoon at Watermark Country Club in Grand Rapids, Mich.

The Thunder won the event by a four stroke margin with a team score of 303 strokes. Host Calvin was second with 307 strokes and Kalamazoo College was third with 310 strokes.

Trine was led individually by the duo of freshmen Mark Civanich and Jack Brockie with a pair of 75's. Both player's scores were good enough to tie for third place overall.

Sophomore Mitch Lowney was third on the team with 76 strokes and placed in a tie for sixth among the field. Senior Cameron Ruge had the fourth lowest score on the team with an 18-hole total of 77 strokes and also placed in the top ten in a tie for eighth.

Sophomore Mitch Blank rounded out the individual team eligible scores with a round of 82 strokes and placed in a tie for 22nd overall.

Trine had a pair of golfers compete as individuals in senior Jeffrey Uhls and junior Justin Glessner. Both players ended the tournament with scores of 89 strokes.

The Thunder are scheduled to travel to Kalamazoo, Mich. for the Kalamazoo College Invitational on Wednesday, Apr. 21. The single-round tournament is set for a 1 p.m. start.
