Hummer Hired As Fremont Football, Hoops Coach Bookwalter Resigns

(FREMONT) - Fremont has a new football coach but now they have to find a boys basketball coach. The Fremont School Board approved the hiring of Jim Hummer as the new varsity head football coach on Monday night. Hummer previously coached at Eastside and DeKalb. Meanwhile, the board accepted the resignations of assistant football coaches Chris Snyder and Kagan Gentry. After six seasons, Ted Bookwalter has resigned as the boys basketball coach at Fremont. The School Board formally accepted his resignation on Monday. Bookwalter compiled a record of 53-55 in his six years. The Eagles under his guidance won the 2012 Northeast Corner Conference regular season championship.
