Glen Oaks Cancels Softball Season
Tuesday Mar 27, 2018 12:00am
Centreville, MI

There will be no softball program for Glen Oaks Community College in 2018.

In a media release, Athletic Director Courtney Ivan says Glen Oaks is canceling the 2018 softball season. Low numbers and injuries decimated the softball roster, according to Ivan, making it impossible to finish out the season.

The Lady Vikings did show signs of success and improvement from last year's season, going 2-7 and averaging 5.5 runs per game during their 9 game spring trip to Clermont, Florida.

Ivan says she is saddened that the school had to cancel the softball season, but the student-athlete's health and safety is the number one concern. Ivan says she is confident the program will bounce back from this, just like Glen Oaks had to do a few years ago with the baseball program.

Ivan says the focus will now be on recruiting and continued skill improvement for the returners.

Ivan also says Glen Oaks will be looking for a new softball coach. Grace Muller stepped down as coach after the team returned from Florida.
